One person has purchased all three of the "holy trinity" of hybrid super cars, starting with the McLaren P1.

We’ve all played the game…if money was not object which supercar would you buy? Of course, no one can simply pick just one crazy fast car, so yo

In the case of British multi-millionaire Paul Bailey, it was a real-life game involving the purchase of McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 Spyder, or the Ferrari LaFerrari: the holy trinity of hybrid supercars.

Stay on Top of the News!

And like so many of us when we play the hypothetical game, he elected to buy them all. Yup. He dropped about $4 million and bought all of the hybrid supercars because he couldn’t settle on one.

The purchase makes him the only person in the world to own all three vehicles, according to media reports. A quick review of his three new purchases, which bring the total number of supercars in his stable to 30, reports claim, shows why his choice was so difficult.

Brit Paul Bailey is the proud owner of one of the 499 Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercars built.

The P1, which starts at $1.15 million, features a mid-mounted, twin-turbo hybrid V8 putting out a total of 903 horsepower. The $1.35 million LaFerrari develops 949 hp thanks to its V12 HY-KERS system. The 918 pairs a flat-plane hybrid V8 to produce 889 hp at a cost of just $845,000.

Not only are they impressive machines, there aren’t many of them available, McLaren built just 375 P1s while there are just 499 LaFerraris and – fittingly – just 918 of the Porsche 918s. All of them are sold out.

It’s not just that Bailey and his wife, Selena, bought the vehicles. It’s also how the couple – who made about $45 million when they sold their telephone conference business a few years ago – bought them.

The Baileys and climbed into the McLaren and set off from their home in England and tooled over to the Ferrari dealer about 30 miles away where they picked up the LaFerrari, which was ordered two years ago.

The Porsche 918 Spyder is part of the holy trinity of hybrid supercars.

They then picked up a friend and drove the 100 miles to the Porsche dealership to buy the 918 forming what may have been the most expensive and exclusive parade of hybrid supercars ever seen in Europe. All three are capable of 0-62mph in less than three seconds and a top speed of more than 200 mph.

However, before the eye-rolling begins, know that there is an upside to Bailey’s supercar avarice. He’s sells off raffle tickets for rides in the P1 at the famed Silverstone race track and has raised more than $30,000 for charity as a result, according to a story in The Telegraph.
