CNA National Warranty services may be offered to you at a dealership when purchasing a new car. But is it the best extended warranty option for your vehicle?

In this article, we’ll discuss CNA National Warranty’s coverage, costs and customer reviews. We’ll also explain how the company stacks up against the industry’s best extended car warranty providers. You’ll need to get a CNA National Warranty quote from a participating dealer, but you can start getting quotes from our top-recommended providers by clicking above.

Are CNA National Warranty Services Worth It?.

Since 1982, CNA National Warranty has been selling extended auto warranties through dealerships nationwide. The company offers five vehicle service contracts, and it has won the Dealers’ Choice Award for Best Service Contract Provider 15 years in a row. It also holds an A+ rating and is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The company is currently headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.

        Transparency4.0

Is it worth it? Yes, it’s worth considering a CNA National Warranty contract based on the provider’s industry reputation, high customer service ratings and wide range of vehicle protection plans.

CNA National Warranty Extended Auto Coverage

CNA National Warranty offers five extended auto coverage options. Three are available for new and used vehicles, and two are specifically for used cars.

Owners of new, near-new and used vehicles can qualify for these three plans:

        • Automotive Preferred CareSM: CNA’s top-tier exclusionary plan covers all parts, systems and components of your vehicle, minus a short list of exclusions. This coverage is available for most vehicles with up to 125,000 miles.
        • Mechanical Advantage CareSM: The most comprehensive stated-component coverage, CNA’s Medical Advantage Care plan covers your vehicle’s major component groups, plus interior and powertrain electronics, convenience accessories, vehicle hardware and anti-lock brakes. This contract is available for most vehicles with up to 125,000 miles.
        • Vehicle Value CareSM: This “value-priced” stated-component plan covers the most important parts of your vehicle, including the powertrain, suspension, fuel system, front-wheel steering, electrical system, brakes, cooling system and air conditioning. You can purchase this coverage for most vehicles with up to 150,000 miles.

If you purchased a used car, you qualify for either of these coverage options as well:

        • Certified+Plus CareSM: Owners of certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles can opt for this plan. It has two levels of coverage – Preferred and Advantage – that extend the manufacturer’s CPO limited powertrain warranty to cover the vehicle’s engine, transmission and drivetrain.
        • Powertrain Advantage CareSM: This CNA warranty offers basic protection for listed engine, transmission and drive axle components. It’s available for most used vehicles with up to 150,000 miles.

You’ll need to contact a dealer to take a look at each contract for terms and conditions, limits of liability, component exclusions and state-specific coverage details.

It’s important to note that not all CNA National Warranty services qualify for cancellation. If you are unhappy with your warranty for any reason, you can reach out to your issuing dealership or CNA directly to find out your cancellation options. It’s also a good idea to review cancellation terms before signing a contract.

Benefits Included with CNA National Warranty Services

Each CNA National Warranty plan comes with added perks, including:

        • Emergency roadside assistance: Includes fuel deliveries, flat tire changes, lockout assistance and more
        • Towing reimbursement: Covers the cost of vehicle towing
        • Trip interruption coverage: Reimburses the cost of lodging and meals if your vehicle breaks down far away from home
        • Rental car reimbursement: Covers alternate transportation costs if your vehicle is in the shop for a covered repair

You can find specific terms of these benefits, including reimbursement limits, in your vehicle service contract.

Cost of CNA National Warranty Services

CNA National Warranty doesn’t offer sample pricing online. This is probably because extended warranty costs vary widely from vehicle to vehicle – there’s no one-size-fits-all pricing model. Based on our research, extended warranties cost, on average, between $1,700 and $4,000 for three to seven years of coverage.

Some of the biggest factors that will affect the price of your CNA National Warranty services include the make, model, age and mileage of your vehicle. Luxury vehicles and older vehicles will cost more to cover, as it’s likely that repairs for these vehicles will be more expensive.

The level of coverage you choose will also be factored in. A higher-tier plan will come with a heftier price tag.

Your deductible, or the amount of money you’ll be responsible for paying per repair, is another aspect of an extended warranty’s cost. CNA National Warranty offers multiple deductible options, but it does not state what those options are on its website.

Finally, if you roll the price of your CNA National Warranty contract into your car loan, you’ll end up paying interest on it, which will increase the total price.

How to Get a Quote and File a Claim

To get a quote for any CNA National Warranty services, you’ll need to find a participating dealership. You can call 800-345-0191 to find a dealer near you.

When it comes time to use your extended coverage, CNA says that most dealerships or repair shops submit claims on behalf of customers. All you’ll need to do is take your vehicle to your dealership’s service department or one of many licensed repair facilities across the U.S. and have your problem diagnosed. The facility can then submit a claim to CNA National Warranty for processing.

        CNA National Warranty Reviews

As mentioned, CNA National Warranty has received an A+ rating with accreditation from the BBB with a 4.02 out of 5-star customer review score. Additionally, the company has received relatively few customer complaints over the past three years. Many customers report positive experiences with the company, noting its easy claims process and knowledgeable service representatives.

Here is what customers had to say about their CNA National Warranty services:

        Positive CNA National Warranty Reviews

“[I had a] completely painless experience in replacing a defective transfer case unit in my [vehicle], which would have otherwise put me out north of $6,000. The claim processing, inspection and payment process was handled seamlessly between my dealership and CNA.”

        – Mrinal S. via BBB

“Great customer service. Dealing with vehicle issues can be a pain, but CNA handled everything and made it an easy experience.”

        – Monica G. via BBB

        Negative CNA National Warranty Reviews

“I have used [the warranty] twice since I purchased it, and both times have had to pay more than my deductible of $100.”

        – Louis P. via BBB

“This company did not contact me at all for weeks, not letting me know what forms were needed or anything. They haven’t even sent over payment for my vehicle to be paid off, which happened months ago.”

        – Elisabeth B. via BBB

Our Verdict on CNA National Warranty: 7.0 / 10.0

If CNA National Warranty services are offered at your dealership, they’re worth considering. We like the provider’s wide variety of coverage plans, industry reputability and high customer service ratings. However, read over your contract carefully before signing on the dotted line. Pay special attention to the plan’s price, coverage details and cancellation terms.

Even if you think CNA National Warranty’s services fit the bill for your vehicle, it’s always smart to shop around and get quotes from more than one provider. Read on to learn more about our top-recommended providers.

        Methodology

The Detroit Bureau collects data from every major car warranty provider to formulate rankings of the best warranty companies. Our in-depth rating system takes into account coverage, pricing, transparency, customer satisfaction and ratings from industry experts.
