Fitting a car into your budget involves factoring in all of the costs, including those for insurance. To get a better idea of what you will need to pay, find out how much Dodge drivers can expect to pay. Remember that your auto insurance rates will depend on a long list of factors, many of which we will cover in more detail.

Our experts reviewed the major auto insurance providers to find the best car insurance companies across the industry. We created the quote box for you to easily compare free quotes from local providers. You only need to enter your zip code to get started.

How Your Dodge Model Affects Car Insurance Rates

There are numerous factors that affect your auto insurance rates. One of these is the specific Dodge model that you choose to drive.

Simply put, if you opt for a Dodge car that has a higher cost or has more muscle, you should expect to have higher insurance rates.

This means that driving the Dodge Caravan, Journey or Durango will cost less to insure than if you drive a performance model like the Charger or Challenger – especially an SRT Hellcat. Driving a sports car will give you higher insurance rates than driving a Dodge sedan. The safety ratings of your car may also play a role.

You will also pay less for auto insurance on older or used models. Your insurance premium will even be lower for a used or older Dodge car if you decide you don’t need comprehensive coverage or collision coverage. In that case, you can skip full coverage insurance and instead stick to your state’s minimum.

Standard vs. Classic Dodge Car Insurance

Depending on your Dodge, you may also need to consider whether you need standard car insurance or classic car insurance. You need to get regular auto insurance if you commute with the car or if you use it regularly.

If, however, you only use the car occasionally, you may want to consider classic car insurance. You may be surprised to realize that you can get classic car insurance, even in the case of some newer muscle cars. However, you will have to meet certain requirements to get this coverage.

For example, Hagerty and Progressive prefer you to protect your classic car in a garage. It also cannot be your primary car and needs to be in at least very good condition. They also require it to be valued at more than $3,500. Hagerty offers examples of limited edition models, special edition models or special interest vehicles as those that would qualify for this type of coverage.

If you have a vintage Dodge car, it will also qualify for classic car insurance. Once again, remember that to get classic car insurance, you cannot drive your car often.

        Dodge Charger Car Insurance Rates

Remember that the price you pay for a Dodge Charger car insurance will depend on numerous factors, including your configuration. More expensive models or trim levels will cost more to insure, so it matters where you drive an SXT or another trim. A newer model year will also typically cost more.

Choosing a more performance-oriented trim level or configuration will also likely increase your premium. This is because auto insurers associate a higher risk with driving more performance-oriented and powerful cars. Depending on the insurance provider, you may get a discount for having a new car or configuring it with extra safety or security features.

With that in mind, the average price people pay for their Dodge Charger insurance is about $2,000 to $7,000 each year for full coverage insurance or about $500 to $600 for just liability insurance.

Whether you drive the Dodge Charger, another Dodge model, or even a model from another automaker, your insurance quotes will depend on various factors, including your:

        • Age
        • Years driving
        • Driving history or driving record
        • Insurance claim history
        • Gender
        • Marital status
        • Annual mileage
        • Location
        • Discounts you are eligible for

Remember that your deductible also affects your premium.

        Dodge Challenger Car Insurance Rates

As with the Dodge Charger, your auto insurance rates for a Dodge Challenger will depend on how you configure the coupe and many other factors.

Expect to pay more if you have a more expensive configuration because of the higher value of the coupe. You should also expect to pay more if you have a higher-performance model or a performance-oriented trim, as these are associated with a higher level of risk.

Because there are so many factors that can affect your Dodge Challenger insurance premiums, you can expect to pay anywhere from about $2,000 to $14,000 for a year of coverage. However, most insurers have car insurance quotes closer to about $4,000 to $8,000 for a year.

        Our Recommendations for Auto Insurance

Thanks to the research completed by our experts, we can confidently suggest that you consider GEICO, USAA or Progressive for your Dodge Charger car insurance. When considering these providers or any other insurers, the best method of comparing prices will be to use a comparison tool. Our quote box is the perfect solution, as you can get free local quotes with minimal effort.

        GEICO: Best Overall

In our analysis, GEICO earned a 9.8 for industry reputation, a 9.0 for customer experience, a  9.4 for cost and an 8.5 for coverage. This led to an overall rating of 9.1/10.

If your Dodge is a classic car, consider GEICO’s classic car insurance add-on. No matter your Dodge, GEICO is worth considering, thanks to its long list of potential discounts. These include discounts for anti-theft and safety features, such as airbags and daytime running lights. There are also discounts for military members, federal employees and drivers with multiple vehicles, among others.

        USAA: Best Military Provider

Our experts gave USAA a rating of 9.3 for customer experience, a 10.0 for cost, a 9.5 for coverage and a 9.3 for industry reputation. This resulted in an overall 9.6/10 rating.

Depending on your Dodge vehicle, you may also want to take advantage of USAA’s classic car insurance, which is available as an add-on. USAA also offers several discounts worth checking out, including for new vehicles, driver training, defensive driving and policy bundling with other types of insurance.

        Progressive: Best for High-Risk Drivers

Progressive earned an 8.9 for customer experience, a 9.3 for cost, a 9.0 for coverage and a 9.1 for industry reputation. Like GEICO, Progressive earned a 9.1/10 overall.

Like our other recommendations, Progressive offers classic car coverage as an extra. It also offers a custom parts value add-on, something which can be very appealing if you customize your Dodge with performance parts or other upgrades. There are also discounts, such as for people who set up automatic payments, people who have continuous insurance or distant students, among others.

        Methodology

The Detroit Bureau collects data from every major car insurance provider to formulate rankings of the best insurers. Our in-depth rating system takes into account market share, coverage, auto insurance rate estimates generated by Quadrant Information Services, customer satisfaction and ratings from industry experts. Each insurer is given a weighted score in four categories, as well as an overall score out of 10.0.

We recommend auto insurance companies based on these rankings, but we also encourage you to perform your own research and compare quotes to find the best coverage.
