Toyota: No Plans to Build New Manufacturing Plant in US

Company spending $1.3B to overhaul Kentucky plant.

Jim Lentz, Toyota's top North American executive, said the automaker has no plans to build new manufacturing facilities in the U.S.

Toyota has no immediate plans to add to its production base in the United States, the company’s top U.S. executive said Thursday.

“Right now, our manufacturing footprint is right for our volume,” Jim Lentz, chief executive of Toyota Motors North American region, said during a roundtable session with American and Japanese reporters at Toyota’s new headquarters in Plano, Texas.

Lentz noted the Toyota is spending $1.3 billion on an overhaul of its manufacturing and assembly complex in Georgetown, Kentucky. (more…)

Toyota Nearly Ready to Make Big Move from California to Texas

Maker has 3,000 employees transferring to new headquarters facility.

Toyota is ready to shift more than 3,000 employees from its old headquarters in California to its new one in Texas.

Toyota Motor North America is ready to dedicate its new $1 billion headquarters and central office campus north of Dallas.

The layout and exterior design of corporate campus, which covers 2.1 million square feet, is designed to create a collaborative work environment that “encourages discovery, transparency and creativity.”

Corgan Associates of Dallas, which designed the Toyota campus, noted headquarters houses team members in various spaces for finance, sales, marketing and distribution dedicated to the North American market. (more…)
