The recall parade continues from General Motors as it is now recalling 56,214 Saturn Auras from the 2007-2008 model years in the U.S. The automaker has recalled nearly 5 million vehicles since Jan. 31.
The Auras problems stem from a shift cable that could wear out over time, resulting in mismatches of the gear position indicated by the shift lever. The condition could lead to roll aways and crashes, the automaker said.
“Vehicles equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission have a condition in which the transmission shift cable may fracture at any time,” the company said in a statement. “When the fracture occurs, the driver may not be able to select a different gear, remove the key from the ignition or place the transmission in park.
