A Round-Up of Geneva Motor Show Previews: From Aston to Volvo, Lots of Major New Product

SUVs gain traction at the annual Swiss show – but so do battery-cars.

The new Aston Martin Vantage has been basically rebuilt from the ground up, sharing little with its predecessor.

With the 2018 auto show season beginning to wrap up, automakers and automotive journalists have made their pilgrimage to Geneva.

The annual Geneva International Motor Show has carried on the Swiss tradition of neutrality, no national automotive industry dominating the floor at the sprawling PAL Expo Convention Center. GIMS has a reputation for revealing some while and wacky specialty products, in fact, but virtually every major manufacturer is there with something significant to introduce.

Auto Show News!

This year underscores the fragmentation of the global auto market, with those carmakers rolling out a raft of SUVs, as well as more traditional sedans, coupes and hatchbacks. And along with classic gas and diesel models, electrified offerings are filling the show’s stands – one marque unveiling a 2,000 hp electric hypercar. So, here’s a look at the most significant models on display at the 2018 Geneva show. (more…)

2016 North American International Auto Show Previews an Era of Change

From minivans to luxury cars to semi-autonomous vehicles, big news set to come from Detroit’s Cobo Hall.

The new E-Class is one of more than 40 debuts coming to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week.

Unlike some recent car shows that have focused on specific industry trends, like high-line luxury or green machines, the 2016 NAIAS will offer something for everybody, from economy rides like the Kia Forte, to upscale products such as the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the production version of the Lincoln Continental. But one of the most eagerly awaited introductions will bring an all-new take on the classic minivan. (more…)

The exterior of the 2016 Audi A4 doesn't change much - but there's more here than meets the eye.

With automotive sales and profits soaring, the industry mood is jubilant heading into the biennial Frankfurt Motor Show – and that should translate into good news for car buyers not only in Europe but also the rest of the world.

The first big show of the 2016 model-year is expected to see dozens of new models make their world debut during the two-day media preview. Not surprisingly, some of the biggest news will come from German makers like Audi, which has erected a three-story building of its own at the sprawling Frankfurt Messe, and BMW, which has set up a quarter-mile test track inside its own hall.

The Leader in Global Automotive News!

Among the German makers, “The coffers are full and confidence levels are high — as, it seems, is the desire to one-up neighbors and closest competitors on home turf,” said Tim Urquhart, an analyst with IHS Automotive. (more…)
