Ram Going Long on Copper in Chicago

New Night packages available for heavy-duty models.

The new 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport comes in a new limited edition color: Copper Pearl.

Automakers are still riding the truck sales frenzy and looking for ways to differentiate their beasts from the crowd. Fiat Chrysler’s Ram Truck division is going with one of its strengths: color.

The company is rolling out Copper Pearl as its second limited-edition offering on the Ram 1500, and it’s on display at the Chicago Auto Show. The other limited-edition color is Ignition Orange.

It’s also rolled out new special-edition Night packages for Ram 2500 and 3500 HD pickups. The new Night editions further expand the Ram factory-custom truck family from the half-ton Ram 1500 announced in September 2016 to the brand’s three-quarter and one-ton models. (more…)

The Ram Rebel incorporates the best of off-road capability with on-road comfort and convenience.

From every perspective, the popularity of the good old pickup truck is larger than life as the vehicles from American brands like Chevrolet, Ford and Ram continue to fetch higher and higher prices.

But then there is plenty of evidence that the pickup truck of today is several evolutionary cycles removed from the old-fashioned work trucks that are an enduring part of the American landscape prior to the 1980s.
