Two-seat convertible coming in 2018

by on Mar.17, 2015

Mini chief Peter Schwarzenbauer at the L.A. Auto Show debut of the CitySurfer and Superleggera concepts.

Mini’s latest edition to the line-up, the Hardtop four-door, helped generate an 38.9% increase in sales for the first two months of 2015; however, they expect the next addition will also add a big spark to the brand: the Superleggera Vision is coming.

The two-seat convertible concept has been kicking around the auto show circuit for nearly two years now with officials kicking the can down the road each time they’ve been asked about it.

It was shown in the U.S. at both the Los Angeles and Detroit auto shows in January; however, it’s unknown if the new convertible will even find its way to the U.S. However, it would seem for it to make sense, in terms of production numbers, the U.S. market would be necessary where it could provide some competition for the Mazda Miata M5. Land Rover Confirms Plans to Produce Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Set to go on sale in 2016.

by on Mar.02, 2015

Land Rover has been testing its new Range Rover Evoque Convertible in the tunnels of London's massive unfinished subway project.

Apparently, the folks working on London’s massive new subway program, the 26-mile Crossrail tunnels, know how to keep a secret. Even as they’ve been working away on Europe’s biggest infrastructure project, 130 feet underground, British maker Land Rover has been using the partially completed tunnels to test out its new Range Rover Evoque Convertible.

The maker today confirmed the unusual SUV convertible will go on sale in 2016, though it isn’t saying much more about the project beyond what one can pick out in a short film taken while the Evoque Convertible was being driven through the Crossrail tunnels.

Buick Drops Top in 2016 with New Convertible: Cascada

Brand debuts first convertible in 25 years.

by on Jan.11, 2015

Buick's back in the droptop market wih the all-new 2016 Cascada. The convertible is expected to hit dealer showrooms early in 2016.

Buick’s efforts to ditch its stodgy and staid reputation took another step forward today as it rolled out its first convertible in 25 years: the 2016 Cascada, which will go on sale early next year.

The new ragtop is a convertible from the word go, not a retrofitted coupe or sedan. Set up as a 2+2 that will seat four adults, the Cascada is a departure from the division’s last convertible: the poor-selling Buick Reatta. Pricing was not announced.
