Number three Japanese automaker Nissan has released a sketch of its future “global compact car.”
The unnamed small car could be a replacement for the Micra model. Production will be launched in Thailand in March 2010, and no-name will then be exported to 150 other countries.
No specifications were released, so it is unknown if the car is an electric vehicle, or possibly a hybrid model, although Nissan has rejected that technology as too expensive in order to pursue EVs.
Nissan says the no-name model will be the Thailand’s first “eco-car.” This means that it will qualify for some government subsidies. However, VW, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Honda are also pursuing subsidies.
