GM Offers Sneak Peek at 2015 Cadillac Escalade

Full unveiling to follow next week.

by on Oct.01, 2013

Cadillac offers a sneak peek at the interior of the 2015 Escalade full-size luxury SUV.

The world won’t get its first full look at the long-awaited replacement for the Cadillac Escalade until next week, but General Motors is offering up a sneak peek at the full-size luxury SUV’s interior in an effort to build interest in the upcoming announcement.

The big Caddy ute became a symbol of roadway “bling” when it made its original debut back in 1998, an even more stylish version generating strong demand among the hip-hop community two years later.

Inside Insight!

But in an industry where change occurs at an increasingly rapid pace, GM had let the so-called ‘Slade linger without much change for the better part of a decade – in part due to delays caused by its 2009 bankruptcy.

The new model is expected to share the same underlying platform as GM’s other restyled full-size SUVs, such as the GMC Yukon Denali. But it also promises the 2015 Cadillac Escalade will get a unique look and an extensive range of upscale features, both inside and out, in line with the overall remake of the Caddy brand.

First Look: Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Who says the Hummer is gone?

by on Apr.12, 2012

Like the GL and GLK, Mercedes is updating the big G-Class for 2013.

Who says the Hummer is dead?  All right, the big tri-star on the hood is a clear giveaway, but like the abandoned General Motors off-roader, the Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen is the sort of go-anywhere brute that gets folks to move aside when they see it approaching in the rearview mirror.

Known to Americans as the Mercedes G-Class, the civilian SUV with military roots has been around for 33 years without much change, and that holds with the latest update.  Nonetheless, the 2013 G-Class does fall a little more in line with the Mercedes-Benz GL and GLK models that were introduced, earlier this month, at the New York Auto Show.

“Our G-Class has been a force to be reckoned with for the last 33 years. In its latest evolutionary stage, it offers state-of-the-art, powerful engines, a further improved range of luxurious appointments and the very latest safety features, as well, of course, as its now legendary off-road capabilities,” says Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Mercedes parent Daimler. “At the same time the design remains true to its down-to-earth, unmistakable style.”

Mercedes Bringing New GL Crossover to New York

Bigger ute will share M-Class platform.

The outgoing Mercedes GL.

The New York Auto Show has landed another big announcement, Mercedes-Benz planning to bring to the Big Apple its next-generation GL SUV.

As with the smaller ML, the big G, the descendant of the legendary Gelandewagen, will migrate to a car-based platform.  In fact, various media reports indicate the GL will share the smaller crossover’s underpinnings.

Spy photos show a big ute with a more aggressive front end than the outgoing GL, including a two-bar grille and with what one source described as “LED-infused” headlights.

Overall length is expected to remain the same, though the modified platform reportedly will permit a much larger cabin – and one more lavishly outfitted.  Along with premium leather and wood, the new ML is also expected to get the latest Mercedes-Benz COMAND infotainment system and other high-tech goodies.
