McLaren Pulls Wraps Off New 720S in Geneva

New coupe sprints from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds.

by on Mar.09, 2017

The new McLaren 720S replaces the 650S for 2017. It has a top speed of 212 mph.

The Geneva Motor Show would not be complete without a new model from McLaren. This year is no different as the oft-predicted-near-death British carmaker continues to show it’s got plenty of life left with the all-new 720S.

The new model is the second-generation in the company’s “super series” vehicles putting 720 horsepower from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. The new super car covers 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and will hit 124 mph in 7.8 seconds.

The Need for Speed!

The new beast has a top speed of 212 mph, according to McLaren officials. The new 720S is lighter than its predecessor, the 650S, courtesy of the liberal use of lightweight materials — oodles of carbon fiber and aluminum — and this adds to the stunning performance of the new entry. (more…)

McLaren Has a Two-fer for Geneva with 675LT and P1 GTR

Street model may be sold out by the end of the Geneva Motor Show.

by on Mar.04, 2015

The new McLaren 675LT debuted at the Geneva Motor Show and will do zero-to-60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

Have a need for speed? And $395,000 dollars burning a hole in your pocket? McLaren can come to the rescue with the 675LT model making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week. As just one measure of what it can do, it will launch you from a standing start to 100 kmh, or 62.5 mph, in a mere 2.9 seconds.

But you better act fast, McLaren warning that it could sell out the limited-edition model in “days,” based on preliminary orders and inquiries.

If they’re all gone by the time you cash out your old stocks and bonds, no worry. The British maker also brought to Geneva the new P1 GTR which pumps out almost 50% more power than the 675LT. Unfortunately, you’ll only have the chance to use this new model on the track. (more…)

McLaren P1 Performance Numbers Likely to Leave You Breathless

0 to 60 in “less than three seconds,” ultracar tops out at 218.

by on Feb.28, 2013

McLaren hopes to one-up Ferrari when it launches the P1 ultra-car at the Geneva Motor Show.

If supercars and other high-priced exotics are your game you’ll likely want to keep a close eye on the Geneva Motor Show next month with everyone from Bentley to Ferrari weighing in with new entries – and upstart McLaren intending to clamber to the top of the heap.

The maker has finally released production numbers for the P1, the track-ready supercar it previewed in Paris last year.  And the word, “breathless” quickly comes to mind, the 2-seater promised to deliver 0 to 100 kmh (0 to 62.5 mph) times of “less than three seconds,” with a rated top speed of 218 mph.

News You Can Use!

Supercars have a lot in common with baseball, where the game is as much as anything about statistics. And for the number crunchers here are some equally impressive figures. The McLaren P1 will dash from 0 to 200 kmh (0 to 125 mph) in under seven seconds, with the launch to 300 kmh rated at 17 seconds.
