Return of the Lexus SC?

Based on LF-LC concept, new supercar could nudge above 600-hp.

by on Jun.30, 2015

The Lexus LF-LC concept shown in Australia.

The Lexus SC nameplate has gone through a number of major iterations over the years, from the original sporty coupe to a quirky hardtop convertible and, if new reports prove accurate, it’s about to change again, this time becoming the production version of the LF-LC supercar concept.

Expected to reach showrooms sometime late next year, the next-generation Lexus SC would also serve as a long-awaited replacement for the brand’s first, limited-volume halo car, the Lexus LFA. Some sources suggest the new model will be offered in several different versions, including one that would push somewhere north of 600 horsepower.

Key in on the News!

The revival of the SC as a new, high-performance flagship would fit in with the mandate of Toyota Motor Co. President Akio Toyoda, who has commanded that there be more “passion” in the luxury brand. How much you’d have to pay is a question generating plenty of debate, with some guesstimating it will nudge into $150,000 territory.

Acura Set to Reveal Running NSX Prototype

Supercar to take a lap at Mid-Ohio next month.

An Acura NSX prototype in testing.

The return of the Acura NSX steadily approaches — and after giving the public a preview with a pair of prototypes on the auto show circuit the last two years, the luxury arm of Honda Motor Co. will reveal a running version of the supercar early next month.

While still more than 18 months away from production, an NSX runner will make its debut during a lap of the Mid-Ohio racetrack prior to the Izod IndyCar Series running on August 4th. Considering the event is titled the Honda Indy 200 and takes place close to the heart of the maker’s North American operations makes the venue seem only logical.

Auto News From a Source You Trust!

Based on photos showing the new Acura NSX in testing, it appears that the running prototype retains the basic proportions and design details of the updated supercar concept revealed during the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. That model was slightly longer and wider than the earlier version, with revised exterior details, such as air scoops and dams that were said to be closer to production intent – something the new, running prototype appears to confirm.

Acura to Develop, Build New NSX in the U.S.

Using high-performance hybrid, supercar returns in late 2014.

by on Jan.09, 2012

Acura races back onto the scene with a long-delayed remake of its legendary NSX supercar.

The original Japanese supercar will make its return late in 2014, Acura officials have announced, but the next-generation NSX will be quite a bit different from the original, which debuted more than two decades ago.

For one thing, it will feature a new hybrid-electric drivetrain. And the Japanese maker, the luxury arm of Honda Motor Co., will develop and produce the reborn NSX in the United States, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito announced during a news conference at the Detroit Auto Show.

The new Acura NSX will serve as a halo car for the brand, which has been struggling to catch up with Asian rivals Lexus and Infiniti in recent years.  Acura used its briefing to also unveil the next-generation RDX crossover and all-new ILX entry-luxury sedan, two mainstream models that could use a bit of momentum.
