New ute features breakthrough engine and helps round out SUV portfolio.

by on Nov.29, 2017

The all-new Infiniti QX50 is expected to be one of the pivot factors in driving the brand's sales beyond 200,000 units annually.

Infiniti unveiled its new mid-sized sport-utility vehicle, the 2019 QX50, ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new QX50 is expected to become a key part of its product line.

Christian Meunier, Infiniti Global Division vice president, described the QX50 as a luxury crossover with cutting edge technologies, standout design and unrivaled interior space, riding on an entirely new platform.

LA Auto Show News!

“The 2019 QX50 is the most important vehicle we have ever launched, and it embodies everything the brand stands for: Beautiful design, advanced technology and empowering performance. 2019 Infiniti QX50 Introduces World’s First Variable-Compression Engine

Diesel-like mileage, V-6 performance.

by on Nov.27, 2017

Debuting at the LA Auto Show, the Infiniti QX50 will bring to market the first variable-compression turbo engine.

When Infiniti hinted its new QX50 crossover would be its “most advanced car ever,” they certainly weren’t kidding.

After teasing the new utility vehicle for several weeks we’ve finally gotten a close-up look at the mid-range crossover ahead of its formal debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Tuesday and it’s loaded with high-tech features, including Infiniti’s new, semi-autonomous ProPilot driver assistance system. But what’s likely to catch even more attention is the world’s first variable-compression engine.

Product News!

Dubbed the VC-Turbo, the Japanese luxury brand claims the engine is “the next major step in optimizing efficiency and emissions of the internal combustion engine, literally transforming between power and efficiency on demand.” (more…)

Are You the New Infiniti QX50?

Luxury marque teases “most advanced car ever” ahead of LA Auto Show.

Infiniti teases an important new offering it will reveal at the LA Auto Show next week.

Well, we do know we’ll see the Infiniti QX80 at the Los Angeles Motor Show next week, after it made a world debut at the Dubai Auto Show earlier in November. But that doesn’t tell us much about the curious teaser Nissan’s luxury brand sent out today.

We’ve already been told that the vehicle whose grille and headlight we see will be the brand’s “most advanced car ever,” but it almost certainly isn’t a sedan or coupe. The nose is just too tall and upright. So, that would suggest the automaker means a car-based crossover.

Filling in the Blanks!

“As with all Infinitis,” the latest release tells us, in the words of global design boss Alfonso Albaisa, “we have been inspired by our desire to drive, expressed with power and artistry. With this all-new model, inspiration comes from striking the perfect balance between lust and logic. At a glance, seamless and sculptural, getting closer to the car reveals an ingenious blend of proportion and space.”

Infiniti QX30 Targets Booming Compact Crossover Crowd

More rugged take on maker’s Q30; both share platforms with Mercedes models.

by on Nov.18, 2015

The Infiniti QX30 is getting a double debut in both LA and in Guangzhou, China.

Infiniti has been doing the fan dance in recent months, dropping one tantalizing hint after another about its new compact crossover. Now, it’s finally gone full Monte and revealed the production version of the new QX30.

The new crossover, a more rugged version of the Q30 line launched earlier this year, positions Infiniti in the heart of one of the world’s fastest-growing market segments – something underscored by the decision to simultaneously reveal the new Infiniti QX30 at the L.A. Auto Show and the Guangzhou motor show in China.

Cross Over!

“With our recent sales successes and record growth, the current product offensive will further strengthen Infiniti’s global market position,” said Roland Krueger, President of Infiniti. “The active crossover, QX30, will broaden our offer to new customers around the world.”

Infiniti muscles up its stock G37 Convertible.

With the launch of its new IPL G Convertible, Infiniti is adding some real muscle to its new performance sub-brand.

At 343 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, the 2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible gets a noticeable bump up from the more conventional Infiniti G37 cabrio, a well-received improvement from the base car which had plenty of show but needed more go.

First introduced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and then updated, in concept form, at the recent Pebble Beach Concours, the IPL G shares its 3.7-liter engine with the standard-issue G37 Convertible, but it undergoes some exhaust tuning and engine management changes that add an extra 18 horsepower and 16 lb-ft of torque.

Infiniti EV To Launch as 2015 Model

Luxury version of Nissan Leaf will deliver longer range, better performance.

by on Nov.16, 2011

So far, Infiniti is only giving a hint of what's to come when it launches its first battery-electric vehicle during the 2015 model-year.

Japanese luxury maker Infiniti will charge into the market with its first battery-electric vehicle sometime in 2014, revealed the maker’s senior American executive.

To be sold as a 2015 model, the as yet-unnamed battery car will be based on the Nissan Leaf but will deliver both better performance and longer range, Executive Vice President Andy Palmer told TheDetroitBureau.com during a conversation at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.

Plug In!

The Infiniti electric vehicle will adopt a sedan, rather than hatchback body style, which became “the key challenge” in developing the new model, said Palmer, but he stressed that the production version “is not going to make any excuses,” and will deliver a much more refined appearance and feel when compared to the mainstream Leaf.
