Good things, it’s said come to those who wait. Seven years, it turned out, for Chevrolet to bring back the Camaro, now one of the hottest cars on the market. But for those who’ve been longing to see Chevy’s pony car pace the annual Indianapolis 500, the wait has been even longer. ( See Camaro SS to Pace 2010 Indy 500)
The good news is that Camaro will be back at the Brickyard, next month, for the first time since 1993.
Even better news is the fact that the maker will be offering a 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition.
“We set out to build a collectible vehicle that will appeal to the die-hard Camaro and Indianapolis 500 fan,” says Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet Marketing.
The replica starts out as a factory-ready Camaro SS, but it gets a once-over that includes a variety of features lifted from the actual pace car, Chev claims, including unique seats with the 2010 Indianapolis 500 race logo embroidered onto each of the front bucket seats.
