Six 2015 Honda Fits will be customized for the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas and the projects will be tracked on Tumblr.

Honda is looking to strengthen the bond between young buyers and its subcompact Fit: a demographic that wants to personalize its vehicles. The Japanese maker is going to show them what can be done and give them a running look at process via social media.

Honda enlisted six groups to produce customized cars for the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas. They’re going to post updates on Tumblr between Aug. 21 and Oct. 22 to allow some early glimpses at what will show up in Sin City in November.

American Motorists Big on Customization

SEMA Show wraps up – but aftermarket hits record sales.

by on Nov.11, 2013

If there's something you can do with a vehicle, you'll likely find the parts and accessories at SEMA.

Whether you were looking for a high-performance crate engine, off-road tires or something as goofy as “eyelashes” to attach to attach to your car’s headlights, there was seemingly something for everyone wandering through the sprawling Las Vegas Convention Center during the course of the last week.

It was all part of what has come to be known as the SEMA Show, the annual gathering of the Specialty Equipment Marketers Association. The largest trade group for automotive aftermarket suppliers says it’s on track to report close to $32 billion in sales this year, reflected by the record turnout of more than 2,500 vendors and many as 150,000 visitors to this year’s event.

Japanese maker launches new performance parts operation.

by on Nov.05, 2013

Honda makes "significant" changes to the Civic Coupe, including the more powerful 2014 Si model.

While most automakers come to SEMA with an assortment of tricked out concept cars, it was nothing but the real deal at the Honda stand where the Japanese maker pulled the wraps off its updated 2014 Civic Coupe.

The introduction marks the third major update of the Honda Civic line in just three years and underscores both the significance of the Civic model and the increasing competition in the compact segment.

Honda Shows Supercharged CR-Z

Will the not-so-hot hatch finally get the performance buyers have demanded?

by on Oct.31, 2012

Honda offers some hope to those who want real performance from the little CR-Z.

Honda fans attending this week’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas are in for a treat as the maker pulls the wraps of a series of concept vehicles that includes a supercharged version of the not-so-hot hatch CR-Z.

Though the Japanese maker insists the show car is simply an “exploration of the performance potential of the CR-Z Sport Hybrid,” Honda officials have sent broad signals that they’re looking for ways to punch up the performance of the much-maligned 3-door.  And the SEMA Show has become a test ground for numerous makers to measure whether concepts will click with performance-oriented buyers.
