Chevy does a quick update on Malibu.

General Motors has revealed an updated version of its 4-door Chevrolet Malibu, an unexpectedly rapid “refresh” of the midsize sedan that reflects the less than stellar reception it has received since its introduction last year.

Due to market this coming autumn, the 2014 will feature modest exterior updates and a number of more substantial changes to the interior – all reflecting feedback Chevy has received both from those who’ve bought the Malibu and from potential buyers that turned to the maker’s competitors, said Mark Reuss, president of GM’s North American operations.

Though the current version of the Malibu has been on the market for barely a year, development “was done before we went through bankruptcy,” Reuss noted during a conversation with reporters.  The vehicle reflects the way things by GM’s old management team, he added, and “was not aggressive enough.”

Buick Unveils new 2014 Regal Sedan

Taking aim at younger, high-tech buyers

by on Mar.26, 2013

Buick gives the 2014 Regal a more familial look, including new fascia, grille and headlamps.

It’s a big week for Buick, General Motors’ “near-luxury” brand using the New York International Auto Show to roll out a pair of redesigned models critical to reviving Buick’s faltering momentum.

The show features both the redesigned LaCrosse and updated Regal, the latter and smaller version of the two getting some modest exterior and interior tweaks – and an assortment of new radar- and camera-based safety features – including rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert, blind spot assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert and collision mitigation as well as adaptive cruise control.

Big Changes for 2014 Buick LaCrosse

Bigger is better for Buick.

Buick's 2014 LaCrosse update.

Few models have done more to change the image of a brand than the big Buick LaCrosse. Along with the Enclave SUV, the sedan marked a critical turning point for the General Motors marque which, many had come to expect, wouldn’t survive GM’s 2009 bankruptcy.

The LaCrosse injected Buick with a healthy dose of youthful style and showed that it actually understood that it was possible to deliver a bit of sporty performance without completely abandoning the quite, “boulevard” ride that once made Buick a star in the near-luxury market segment.

We’ve seen Buick roll out updates to the Enclave and several other key models but the debut of the new 2014 LaCrosse at the New York Auto Show – where it’s also previewing the updated Regal – could prove a critical moment for the marque.

“We evolved the interior and exterior design, increased luxury amenities and materials, and enhanced the safety and personal technologies to give customers more reasons than ever to rediscover Buick,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing.
