Ram Reveals Rumble Bee

Concept truck could spawn challenger to Ford Tremor.

by on Aug.19, 2013

Ram debuted its Rumble Bee Concept at this year's Woodward Dream Cruise.

The Ram Rumble Bee carries quite a sting – and not necessarily from its 395-horsepower Hemi V-8.

The shift knob of the new concept truck, it turns out, contains a bumblebee encased in amber – a warning, perhaps, for Ford which recently launched its new performance pickup, the Tremor?

For now, Chrysler’s truck division isn’t ready to say whether it will produce the new concept vehicle but the Ram Rumble Bee clearly set up some buzz when it was unveiled during the weekend’s Woodward Dream Cruise, an homage to the days of the muscle car.

What a Concept!

The first concept vehicle ever to be launched during the annual Dream Cruise, the Rumble Bee could suggest Ram is ready to revive the performance truck it offered as part of a limited run in 2003 – the original Rumble Bee itself paying tribute to the classic Dodge Super Bee muscle car Chrysler produced from 1968 to 1971.

Chrysler Plans to Reveal New Ram Truck Concept at Woodward Dream Cruise

Teaser images hint of high-performance pickup.

Chrysler says little about the pickup concept it will reveal on Saturday - but it could be the bee's knees.

It’s going to be a busy day on Detroit’s main thoroughfare when the annual Woodward Dream Cruise rolls into town this Saturday, with an estimated 40,000 to 60,000 muscle cars, hot rods and classics rolling down the eight-land boulevard. But Chrysler is hoping one particular vehicle will draw some extra attention from the 1.5 million or more fans expected to line the long route.

Though details are scarce, the maker has revealed plans to roll out an all-new concept version of its Ram truck at 10 AM on Saturday morning, a pickup that just might be the successor to the Viper V-10-powered Dodge Ram SRT-10 that ended production in 2006.

Keep on Truckin'!

Rumors are flying fast and furious, some wondering whether the show car will be dubbed the Ram SRT or perhaps revive the legendary Power Wagon badge. Another alternative picks up on the apiary emblem in two teaser shots Chrysler has released, suggesting that it could be the Ram Super Bee, a name that has long ties to the maker’s performance models. Another possible variant: the Rumble Bee.

Ford Slings Mud – and Rocks – at Ram With New F-150 Tremor

New sport-truck opts for higher-mileage Ford EcoBoost V-6.

by on Jun.27, 2013

Ford targets younger, hipper sport-truck buyers with the 2014 F-150 Tremor.

Just because you want to tear things up doesn’t mean you have to swizzle a lot of gas – not with Ford’s new F-150 Tremor.

The new sport-truck due into showrooms this autumn will opt for Ford’s EcoBoost which the maker claims can deliver V-8 power but V -6 fuel economy.

“The new Tremor gives F-150 customers yet another option to drive a highly capable, distinctive performance truck with features typically found only in the aftermarket,” said Brian Bell, F-150 product marketing manager, during the new truck’s unveiling on Thursday.

The debut of the regular cab, short-bed Tremor took many by surprise.  Ford has fed the market for pickups with all manner of variants in recent years, but it wasn’t expected to come up with another spin-off until after an all-new version of the F-Series was scheduled for launch in late 2014.
