Ford Enjoys 24% Sales Leap in China

Sales of Ford SUVs, like Everest, pushed the maker to a 24% sales jump in September.

Ford Motor Co. sales in China jumped 24% in September due to the demand for its growing line-up of sport-utility vehicles.

The results mirror that of its competitor General Motors, which reported an increase of 16% last month, based largely on its large luxury sedans and SUVs.

Ford’s July Sales Jump 15 Percent in China

Ford sales are up 6% in China in the first half of the year due to the popularity of its SUVs and crossovers, like the new Edge.

Ford and its joint ventures in China increased sales by 15% in July, giving the company a bit of good news after a spate of disappointing financial and sales reports from other parts of the globe, including key market in North America.

Year-to-date sales for Ford, Changan Ford and Jiangling Motor Corp. total 652,836 vehicles, up 6% compared with the same time last year.

July sales for CAF, Ford’s passenger car joint venture, increased 20% compared to July 2015. Year-to-date sales for CAF accelerated past the half million mark with 503,719 vehicles sold, up 11% compared with last year. (more…)

Ford sales are up 5% in China in the first half of the year due to the popularity of its SUVs and crossovers, like the new Edge.

Ford Motor Co.’s sales in China could surpass 1 million units this year, marking the first time that will happen.

Vehicle sales for Ford and its joint ventures in the first half were up 5% over last year to 564,647, with June accounting for 85,105 units sold. June results were 3% higher than June 2015.

“We continue to see solid growth in China during the first half,” said Dave Schoch, Ford Motor Co. group vice president and president of Asia Pacific. “Even as the pace of growth slows and the market matures, customers continue to respond well to our products, particularly our world-class SUV line-up.” (more…)

Ford Sales in China Slide 8.7 Percent in February

Maker's Escort defies trend with 15% increase.

The newly revived Escort continues to enjoy strong sales in China with a 15% increase in February.

The fall off in auto sales in China hit Ford hard last month as the company reported its sales fell 8.7% in February compared with year-ago results.

The drop is in stark contrast to the maker’s January results when sales rose 36%. Through the first two months, sales for Ford and its Chinese partners are up 18%, but the year expected to be a tough one for automakers.
