Ford Fills in the Blanks on New Focus RS

Hot hatch delivers some surprises.

Ford revealed a bit more information about the coming-later-this-year Focus RS, including the 345 horsepower under the hood.

Ford left some gaping holes in the story when it unveiled the Focus RS at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year – starting with the number of ponies it planned to pack under the hood.

Sure, something “well in excess of 315 horsepower” got our attention. But we stood up and took notice when we received word today that the precise number will be 345 horsepower – and 324 pound-feet of torque. Oh, and did we mention that the turbocharged EcoBoost engine will be capable of bumping that up to 347 lb-ft for 15 seconds at a time?

That should make for an interesting launch at the stoplight or a great run down the straights for anyone who might have the chance to log some track time in the new Ford Focus RS. (more…)

The new 2015 Ford Focus ST gets a lower, wider stance to improve handling and give it a more aggressive look.

Ford introduced the 2015 iteration of its Focus ST pocket rocket at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom.

The Festival of Speed, or FoS as it’s known in England, is an annual hill climb featuring historic motor racing vehicles that is held in the grounds of Goodwood House, West Sussex, England.

Fantasy will merge with reality later this week when Ford unveils its next-generation Focus ST model.

Ford will show more of its new 2015 Focus ST during this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The performance version of the compact line will show its stuff during a run up the doglegged hill climb at Britain’s annual Goodwood Festival of Speed on Friday. But the new Ford Focus ST also will make a virtual entrance as part of the popular Gran Turismo 6 videogame.

Beyond the Headlines!

And in a unique twist, a “virtual versus real” race will allow gamers to go head-to-head with the real drivers as they take the Goodwood challenge.
