First Drive: Jaguar F-Type 4-Cylinder

Sound off...and sound on.

by on Aug.10, 2017

The 4-cylinder version of the Jaguar F-Type joins the U.S. line-up later this year.

We’ve spent the last several hours climbing up a mountainside in the northern reaches of Norway behind the wheel of a new Range Rover Velar. Now, as we creep back down to level ground, it’s time to go from the sublime to the ridiculous…or is it the other way around?

As much fun as the new Range Rover has been over the last couple days, we can’t wait to check out the way the Jaguar F-Type will maneuver through the twisting Norwegian countryside, its narrow, but well-paved roads tracing the curves of the local rivers, lakes and fjords. Making things more interesting: our two-seater is the new, four-cylinder version of the F-Type.

Reviews You Can Trust!

We fell in love with the sports car the moment the convertible version first rolled out, the coupe adding even more to its handling bona fides. But perhaps nothing enhanced the visceral passion quite like the raw, guttural roar of the F-Type’s supercharged V-8. Will the new, turbocharged 4-cylinder Ingenium engine deliver anywhere near the thrill?

Jaguar Smashes Through 200 MPH Barrier with New F-Type SVR

First look ahead of Geneva Motor Show debut.

by on Feb.17, 2016

The F-Type SVR will hit 200 in coupe trim, but can only muster 195 mph with the ragtop.

Jaguar scored a big hit with the launch of its F-Type convertible three years ago, but it hasn’t been resting on its laurels, steadily adding new ragtop and convertible variants meant to boost performance and build demand.

The latest twist comes with the debut of the Jaguar yF-Type SVR – the first version capable of hitting 200 mph. Officially, the public won’t get a first look until early next month, when the British maker rolls out the new supercar at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but we’ve gotten our digital hands on some details and a few images ahead of that official debut.

Power Up!

“Our objective was to take everything that our customers love about F-Type – the performance, the handling, the sound, the design – and take it to a whole new level,” says John Edwards, the managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations. “It’s a 200-mph all-weather supercar.”

Struggling Lotus Unveils New Evora 400

British maker bills it as its fastest model ever.

by on Feb.18, 2015

Lotus hopes the new Evora 400 will help put it back on the map after a series of disasters.

Struggling Lotus has lately sounded a lot like Mark Twain, repeatedly insisting that reports of its demise have been greatly exaggerated, despite plenty of reason for concern, including management shake-ups and the collapse of an ambitious, and ultimately unrealistic, product development program.

But Lotus is showing at least some signs of life, the latest coming with the unveiling of its all-new, mid-engine Evora 400. The latest update of the Evora line is more than just a cosmetic update, insists the maker which is based in Hethel, Norfolk. It claims that “over two-thirds” of the Lotus Evora 400 is new, including its supercharged 3.5-liter V-6.

Become an Industry Insider!

“The Evora 400 is the fastest road-going Lotus that we have ever produced, possessing performance that can only be matched by cars costing significantly more,” boasted Group Lotus Chief Executive Officer Jean-Marc Gales. “It delivers supercar looks allied to supercar performance.”
