BYD Opening New Truck Plant in Canada

BYD is building a second facility in North America to go with its U.S. headquarters building in Los Angeles: a truck plant in Ontario, Canada.

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD Co. is preparing to launch its second venture in North America — a factory building electric trucks in Ontario, Canada.

The Chinese electric vehicle maker has already opened a small factory in Lancaster, California, just outside of Los Angeles to build electric buses for the American market. The plans for the plant in Canada anticipate a surge in demand for electric trucks from municipalities and businesses, BYD Canada officials said.

The goal is for BYD to open the plant and hire about 40 people to start, BYD Canada spokesman Ted Dowling told Bloomberg.  (more…)

Bollinger Adds Four-Door Variant on Electric Truck

Bollinger Motors is going to offer a four-door version of its electric sport-utility truck as well as a new color — orange.

Just a little more than a month after introducing its new electric sport-utility truck, the B1, Bollinger Motors is already on to its first variant: a four-door model.

The upstate New York-based startup released a sketch of the four-door sport-utility truck in a new color — orange.

Bollinger Unveils EV Truck Prototype

Bollinger Motors unveiled its all-electric prototype sport-utility/truck in Manhattan.

With their inexpensive motors and on-line sales, which lower the barriers to entry, electric vehicles have become a magnet for start-up companies.

Bollinger Motors, a U.S.-based company headquartered in New York, unveiled what it describes as the world’s first all-electric, on-and-off-road sport utility truck or SUT. The squared off utility vehicle is reminiscent of an early model Ford Bronco.

“We are so thrilled to be able to finally take the wraps off of our Bollinger B1 SUT,” said Bollinger Motors’ Founder and CEO Robert Bollinger. “This is the culmination of what has been a 40-year-long boyhood dream of mine, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the vehicle and the incredible team who worked so hard to create it.” (more…)
