Mercedes-Benz Teases Concept Van for Tokyo Motor Show

“Luxurious, autonomous and progressive.”

by on Oct.27, 2015

Mercedes pushes to extremes with a concept van coming to this year's Tokyo Motor Show.

In a market all-but owned by Japanese domestic manufacturers, foreign makers have largely ignored the Tokyo Motor Show in recent years. But Mercedes-Benz has decided to weigh in this time with a concept vehicle it calls, “a vision for future generations.”

A quick look at the accompanying teaser would suggest it’s just a minivan, but knowing Mercedes, we can expect a lot more than just a roomy interior, and will likely see the German maker pick up some of the themes it has touched on in recent times with other concepts such as the F 015 Luxury in Motion and the Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile, or IAA, revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month.

What a Concept!

That is likely to translate into some intriguing new technologies, perhaps in terms of autonomous driving, but the Tokyo concept might also feature an advanced infotainment system, as well as an alternative powertrain.

But it’s the revised design likely to draw attention, especially among the young car buyers Lexus has been heavily targeting lately.

Sedan continues to put maker at the forefront.

by on Mar.26, 2015

Kia stopped teasing us and decided to show off the 2016 Optima coming to the New York Auto Show.

After a slow tease that might have made a stripper proud, Kia is finally going the full Monty, releasing a picture of the new Optima SX a week ahead of its New York International Auto Show debut.

The outgoing Optima was a breakthrough car for Kia, transforming it from a stodgy, value-focused brand to one pushing the boundaries of design. Preliminary renderings released by Kia earlier this month suggested that the 2016 Optima would maintain its edginess. With its distinctive new grille – that appears to be the case.

Volkswagen Pulls the Wraps Off New Sport Coupe Concept GTE

Geneva show car “marks beginning of new design era.”

by on Mar.02, 2015

Volkswagen launched its new Sport Coupe Concept GTE at the Geneva Motor Show to show the maker's future design direction.

Volkswagen has long opted for a simple, straightforward and unadorned styling language, but with the launch of its new Sport Coupe Concept GTE at the Geneva Motor Show, the German maker is sending a clear message about how it plans to shift design direction.

With its crisp creases and curvaceous roofline, VW suggests it has “visibly sharpened” its look – while giving a very clear hint of its plans for what is expected to be the replacement of its outgoing CC model.
