Acura Prepping “Substantially New” ILX for 2016

Remake to debut at LA Auto Show next month.

by on Oct.20, 2014

Acura tosses out a teaser of the 2016 ILX.

Hoping to salvage its sluggish-selling entry-level model, the ILX, Acura is promising to reveal a “substantially new” version of the compact sedan at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.

Launched for the 2013 model-year, the ILX got off to a slow start amidst mixed reviews, though it has been bringing in some of the Gen-X and Gen-Y buyers that Acura has been desperate to win over. Acura Aims to Redefine Itself with RLX Flagship

Luxury maker counting on new design and advanced technology to lure in new buyers.

Acura loses the peak but gains a new LED lighting system with the 2014 RLX flagship.

It was the brand that proved Japanese automakers could compete in the luxury segment but in recent years Acura has been little more than an after-thought, lost behind mainstream high-line marques like Lexus and German giants Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

The production version of the Acura RLX is now on display at the LA Auto Show.

Automaker not ready to release details of 2012 model.

by on Jan.25, 2011

Acura is set to announce an updated version of its TL sedan at the Chicago Auto Show.

Many pundits would argue that Acura’s design studio has sort of lost its way with its recent designs, but next month’s Chicago Auto Show could be a chance for the automaker to change course.

Acura will show a “newly refined” 2012 TL at its press conference, scheduled for Feb. 9.

“The TL … further enhances its position in the segment with aggressive, yet refined styling and performance,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales.
