VW Adding Two-Row Atlas to Line-Up

Bound for the Big Apple - Volkswagen gives us a first look at the 5-seat version of the Atlas.

It may have been late to the SUV party but Volkswagen seems determined to catch up with a rapidly expanding line-up of new models.

The latest offering will make its debut at this month’s New York International Auto Show – albeit in concept form. And with a two-row version of its largest crossover, VW appears to be ready to chase another niche in the booming utility vehicle market.

Reports of the demise of the big Kia K900 luxury sedan? Well, you know what Mark Twain would say: they’ve been greatly exaggerated.

With the overwhelming response to the new Stinger, there’s no question that Kia is putting a lot of emphasis on that sexy new GT model. But company insiders have repeatedly emphasized to that the K900 isn’t going away. And if you needed proof, check out these two renderings of the second-generation sedan that is expected to make a debut appearance in the coming weeks an roll into showrooms by mid-year.

To further underscore its longevity, consider that the new model was a collaborative development pairing Kia’s global design headquarters in the Seoul suburb of Namyang, along with the automaker’s U.S. design center in Irvine, California.

The Volkswagen Golf has grown into an extended family over the years, from the standard compact hatchback to sporty models such as the GTI and Golf R, the battery-powered e-Golf, and the functional, flexible SportWagen and AllTrack models. And the entire line-up will undergo some notable updates for 2018.

The public will get a first, formal look at the refreshed line-up at this week’s New York International Auto Show, but VW is already offering the inside story to media gathering in the Big Apple. And what it has in store for buyers includes some modest styling tweaks, as well as new safety and infotainment technologies.

Toyota updates the Yaris for 2018.

Toyota will be going to extremes at the upcoming New York International Auto Show, unveiling updates to both its smallest entry into the U.S. market, as well as one of its biggest.

The update to the Toyota Sienna comes at a critical time, as the Japanese maker’s people-mover faces tough competition from two key competitors: the well-reviewed Chrysler Pacifica and the popular Honda Odyssey, both of which have undergone complete makeovers in the last year.
