Chevy Hopes to Spark Interest of Minicar Buyers

2016 Chevrolet Spark debuts in both New York and Seoul.

by on Apr.02, 2015

The 2016 Chevrolet Spark debuted at the New York Auto Show. It's been completely redesigned and hits showrooms in the fourth quarter.

Chevrolet pulled the covers off its new 2016 Spark – twice, in fact, with simultaneous debuts at the auto shows in both New York and Seoul.

The Korean-made minicar has been defying recent trends that have seen sales of small passenger cars slump in light of the drop in fuel prices. Demand for the Chevrolet Spark has risen by nearly a third so far this year after a 14.7% jump in 2014.And with the overall minicar segment expected to grow by 30% by 2018, GM sees even greater opportunities.

The new Cadillac CT6, which made an unexpected appearance in an Oscar commercial, debuts at this year's New York International Auto Show.

A long auto show season that began with last year’s gathering in Paris is getting set to wrap up with the annual New York International Auto Show. And things will be going out with a bang, rather than a whimper.

Automakers have been building momentum as the devastating Great Recession fades into the rearview mirror, bringing out a growing array of products targeting every conceivable niche. What you see with the Lincoln Continental Concept is largely what you'll get with the production model.

The Lincoln Continental, once one of the most elegant and widely respected vehicles in the U.S. luxury market, is making its return. And the concept version set to make its first public appearance at the New York International Auto Show will return in production form next year, a senior Lincoln executive has advised TheDetroitBureau.com.

The show car version not only will introduce such luxury features as “laser-assist” high beams, but also will reveal what company officials are calling “the new face of Lincoln.”

A Luxury You Can Afford!

“The concept is a pretty strong hint of what the production vehicle will look like,” Lincoln President Kumar Galhotra said during a Sunday night interview. The road-ready version, he added, will reach U.S. showrooms “sometime in the 2016 calendar-year.”
