Aston Martin's Vantage S Roadster will hit showrooms later this year. It will do so at a top speed of 201 mph.

Jaguar has the new F-Type convertible, Chevrolet has new Corvette Z06 convertible, and well, it seems that this is the year of the high-powered convertible and Aston Martin couldn’t be left out. So it’s debuted the 2015 V12 Vantage S Roadster.

The new soft-top joins the Vanquish Volante GT and DB9 Volante in Aston’s convertible line-up later this year, although an official date wasn’t revealed by the maker nor was pricing. However, the Vantage S starts at just under $200,000.

It’s the companion to the coupe that the company rolled out in 2013, and it’s quite a partner. The new Vantage is powered by a 565-horsepower 6.0-liter V-12 that tops out at 201 mph. It boasts a zero-to-60 time of 3.9 seconds.

It will be the company’s fastest roadster to date.

Not only is fast and nice to look at, it can handle any driving circumstance. It comes with an “auto-shift manual” transmission and three-stage adaptive damping suspension. It allows drivers to select from Normal, Sport and Track modes, including changing the amount of power assistance in steering. Sport mode also changes throttle response, gearshift speed and timing, and exhaust note.

“The V12 Vantage S Roadster is the mechanical embodiment of this company’s exceptional spirit,” says Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s director of design. “The new roadster is truly a treat for the senses with, underlying all this, the capacity to deliver one of the most dynamic, exciting and stirring driving experiences in our current range.

“I’m sure the V12 Vantage S Roadster will appeal to luxury sports car enthusiasts worldwide who want to add a truly exceptional new model to their garage.”

In addition to fast, Aston wants it to look nice. What’s an English-built vehicle without being able to use the word “bespoke” in the description of its appearance? In this case, the company introduced the Q by Aston Martin Collection.

It allows owners to select from a choice of bold exterior and interior colors; body colored carbon bonnet louvers; a red tint or satin finish to the carbon fiber elements on the exterior and interior of the car; a full carbon fiber center console, black anodized and machined rotary controls and a steering wheel with a leather on-center stripe in the chosen interior accent color.

“We believe that it is a truly exceptional sports car, with the capacity to set pulses racing just by its sound alone,” Reichman added. “The authentic appeal of its style, performance, quality and craftsmanship ensure its stands head and shoulders above others in its sector and delivers that most precious of experiences – fun – in abundance!”
