2014 Nissan Rogue

The Path of the 2014 Nissan Rogue

If you’re in the market for a crossover vehicle, automakers are actively courting you with a variety of driving options. The crossover vehicle category has opened up styling and creative avenues that were previously left unexplored as sport nature, all-wheel drive has married with utility. The vehicles created with the crossover design concept span from rather truck-like offering like the Ford Explorer to the outrageously sublime. Nissan could possibly receive the crown for producing some of the most surreal crossover vehicles when they introduced the Juke and the Murano Cross Cabriolet to customers. Strategically placed between the large, mature Nissan Murano and the funky little Juke, the Nissan Rogue rests firmly in the middle in more ways than one. Being Nissan’s second-best selling vehicle in the United States, it’s clear the rogue trail has proved effective for the Rogue. Redesigned, the 2014 Nissan Rogue is prepared to stick to its own path.

Still appearing like a smaller Murano, the 2014 Nissan Rogue delivers an independent character. The Rogue’s new body is nearly ten percent more aerodynamically efficient than its 2013 counterpart. A rear spoiler and Nissan’s first muffler spoiler reduces turbulence towards the back of the 2014 Rogue. Based on a longer 106.5-inch wheelbase, the 2014 Nissan Rogue’s exterior is also higher by 1.2 inches.

The 2014 model year Nissan Rogue’s interior has been greatly reworked. With a widened wheelbase, the interior gains the most notable new feature, an available third-row seating arrangement. Prior to the 2014 Nissan Rogue, the smallest seven-passenger product offered by the Japanese auto brand was the sport utility Pathfinder. Rear doors have been enlarged on the 2014 Rogue for better entry/exit for passengers. Incorporating an EZ Flex Seating System, all seating with exception to the driver’s seat with the new Nissan Rogue can be folded down for a multitude of cargo management solutions. Optional for the 2014 Rogue’s interior is the NissanConnect with Navigation system operating from a seven-inch touch screen. NavWeather and NissanConnect Apps will be offered through the available infotainment system.

The 2014 Nissan Rogue remains committed to its 170-horsepower 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine. While engine power has not changed on the new Rogue, Nissan went to great lengths to reduce mechanical friction of the Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission). The end result is a more efficient CVT that is 10 percent more efficient than the previous gearbox. Combined with aerodynamic improvements, both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of 2014 Nissan Rogue provides improved fuel management. The 2014 Rogue’s combined city and highway driving fuel consumption is rated at 28 miles per gallon consistent with both drivetrains. This enhanced fuel economy of the 2014 Nissan Rogue results in a more than four-mile per gallon improvement when comparing the all-wheel drive model.

The 2014 Nissan Rogue all-wheel drive’s newfound fuel efficiency continues to deliver the traction needed to address the evils of winter. After all, winter needs a hero.
